Bead Soup-Patrick Duggan-Chainmaille and the Wait List for the Colorado Bead Retreat

Yes, what a week. First, the Bead Soup was mailed to Chris Eisenberg, my Bead Soup 8 Partner and as you know I cannot post the box of goodies until she recieves them.  Showing Monday for delivery so let's keep our fingers crossed.

Anne Hess sent me a email that the Bead Society of Central Florida had just open up Patrick Duggans
classes during his Florida Visit.  I have been a follower of Patrick on Facebook and to meet him in person will be a delight.  He is traveling from his native Australia and attending the Bead and Button 2014 and then traveling down to Florida with Anne Hess and teaching during his visit.

I was able to register for "Diamond Kiss" and Brooches ( in lovely Luna Softs ) and Green Dagger all between Thursday and Friday.  Anne was gracious enough to let me stay with her too so it will be a lovely gathering at Anne's house.  Deborah Apodaca will be coming in Thursday as well, then heading off to her South Carolina High School reunion and will get the opportunity to meet Patrick as well.

Additionally, the first Sunday and Monday in April, I will be taking Anne Hess doll class at Beads and Baubles in Ft. Pierce.  Anne just sent photographs to select fabrics.  It will be a two day intense beaded
art doll class and after doing " Angels in Disguise " with Anne at the retreat, I can't wait.

And finally, Alas the 11 open seats for the Colorado Bead Retreat went at the blink of an eye.  The only
good thought is that I am on the Wait List.  Thank you Betcey.  Your a doll.  This is my bucket list, to
work with Sherry Serafini, Heidi Kummili together in Colorado.  If it does not come to fruitition this year, then I'll make it happen next year.

Entertainly so, how about we close this post with a " Half Persian ".  Yes, Genny Smith has a wonderful technique now to start the Half Persian with a card.  I love this weave, but the Dragon is still my favorite.

I am going to miss our Chainmaille classes.   This term is over at the St. Lucie Rock and Gem but Genny has promised to teach again in the fall and we may schedule a get together work shop over the summer for really special Chainmaille projects.  Thanks again Genny for being such a wonderful, inspiring teacher.  Obiwan Genny.

And to continue.....The Shibori Blog Hop

What a wonderful package I recieved from Tanya Goodwin.  The Shibori is wonderful and surprise, it matches the face cabachon that Anne Hess put together during our Florida Jewelry Artist Bead Retreat.  She also hada lampwork piece that she said should have been in the Bead Soup from last year and then delightfully there were scales in the package.  Chainmailler's think alike.  The Reveal will be April 14th.

What a delightful package and such a lovely gift.

Hummmm!  Now where will this take us?
Anne Hess......what a great thought.

First, I would like to extend a big "thank you" to everyone who left a comment.  This will be my first time hosting a blog hop and I was a bit scared that no one would want to play.

I am so grateful to all of you that picked six winners instead of five and give away the ribbon I was going to keep for myself.  (I ordered another for me to play with.)

I picked the winners the "old fashioned way":
Maryanne
Alenka
Monique
Carolyn
Mary
Catherine

Congratulations!  I have your packages ready to go and will send them out as soon as I get your addresses.  (If you don't have an email from me already, please let me know.)

Also, a few people commented that they had ribbon and wanted to play:

Christine (I sent a ribbon to Christine after our email conversation)
Sharyl
thisgirl

I am so excited to see what everyone does with their ribbons.

Stay tuned for the reveal -- April 14!http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/blogspot/WOJgi/~4/V8G-oMGPNCw?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email

Pine Ridge Treasures " Summer Carnival " Blog Hop Goodies arrived......

Inquiring minds want to know:

OH YEAH!  I got this.
and it will be stringing ladies.....not my usual compositions.  :)

Chaining and Beading away as always.....

We are coming to an end of this sessions classes at the Rock and Gem Club, but sign ups have already begun for our next session.  As Genny will not be teaching Chainmaille until the Fall, I thought it would be
a delight if the " Ladies of the Evening " played in copper and brass with Metal Expressions and of course,
I will be cabbing.

Speaking of Cabbing.  Finished out three more delightful cabachons this past week:
40m x 25m Oval Crazy Lace Agate

40m x 50m oval cab

32m long x 23m wide Inidan Paint Stone

While I am revisiting the ETSY site and refurbishing it with new artwork, naming, etc. I will be adding Cabachon's for sale too.

And of course while I am finishing the center piece of my Annual Bead Journal Project, I've been chaining away.  Finally got the technique for Turkish Round.  Took a couple of try's but it was worth it.  As our
" Ring Lord" Stainless Steel order came in:  Of course Byzantine in Stainless Steel.

And Turkish Round in Silver Parawire.  I think I would like to do this one in Sterling along with my Persians.

I'll be re-linking the ETSY site while we revise the photographs and bring them current.  I did experiment with FOTOFUZE ( www.fotofuze.com ) and worked on my DragonScale.
DRAGONSCALE in FOTOFUZE
Not sure if I should re-shoot all items or play with FOTOFUZE.  We shall see

Partners have been selected for the Bead Soup Party 8

My partner has been selected for the 8th Annual Bead Soup Blog Party:  Chris Eisenberg and please spend
a moment visiting her blog:

I did have to confess that I had already strated pulling her SOUP and after spending time on her blog, I believe I have chosen well.  I did state that once she recieves her package I'll post her " BOWL OF SOUP".

I can't wait to see where this goes and good friend Deborah Apodaca is participating this year as well.

Chris is another PINE RIDGE BLOG HOP participant and I enjoyed, actually I love her New Years Piece.
Bead Embroidery.  My favorite technique and I can see that Chris is another Sea Person.  We will keep you
updated with this lovely annual Bead Soup Party.

First of all for the month of March 2014

Let us share a moment of Gratitude.  Gratitude for the lives we pass each day and for the lives that have entered our lives for those special moments.  Gratitude for the incredible talents we possess and the ability to design and produce incredible jewelry, and those wonderful sisters ( and brothers Patrick ) that we share each day with.

As always it has been a very busy month of February with the Under the Sea Round Robin through the Yahoo Beaded Art Doll Group.  I was the first to bead on Yvonne Nathansons wonderful Angelfish that Arydell Hotellling had made.  It mailed to Suzanne Bang as beader 2  Her lovely little book had a lovely seahorse that I became enchanted with.

Those lovely eyes are from Nix Creations on Etsy....https://www.etsy.com/people/Nixcreations.  Thank you Matthew.

Additionally, Chainmailling has been at the forefront along with the Bead Journal Project.
I completed the " DragonScale ".  At class last week I was listening to everyone complain about the weave of DragonScale.... as I was thinking to myself that this was one of my more favorite weaves along with Open Round and Byzantine.  Must be that left hand thinking process.  :)

Can you feel Spring?  Even though I live in Florida I can feel it.  Just that hint of coolness but the plants are
starting to show their new buds.  So I thought it was appropriate to share colors from SEEDS...... let us see where our color pallett develops over the next few months.

We are coming to the end of our current classes at the St. Lucie Rock and Gem Club.  New classes will be posted after March 8th.  Genny Smith is on sabbatical until the fall for chainmaille and Sarah, Deborah and myself will be only taking a few classes on this upcoming session to devote more time to our personal work.

Tomorrow we should have our partners assigned for the Bead Soup Blog Party No: 8.  This is the first time I elected not to be with other Bead Embroiderer's and exchange Seed Beads.  I wanted to expand upon my use of Beading and Stringing, wrapping and other challenges.   I look foward to seeing who I will be paired with this year.  This will be Deborah Apodaca's first go and it will be fun to watch what she creates.

Now on to the Bead Journal Project...........the centerpiece to the monthly dragonflies.
